77 CLARKSON AVENUE

77 Clarkson Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11226

77 Clarkson is an eight story, 44-unit new condominium building near Prospect Park in Brooklyn, NY. Drawing influence from the neighboring residences on Clarkson Avenue, we divided the facade into three sections, each measuring the same width as the typical Brooklyn townhouse. The center section is elevated over two monolithic concrete gates, inspired by Le Corbusier’s Curutchet House in Argentina, which lead into a dramatic double height entry. This iconic entry was conceptualized as the “mouth” of the building. This is the space where community happens – the moment where people come home, meet, and interact.

Amenities here provide a retreat from city life. In addition to the gym, lounge, and expansive rooftop terrace, a zen garden and patio were carved out of the back yard. Reclaimed cedar from New York City’s iconic water towers forms the front screening fence and rear deck, and it lines the walls and ceilings throughout the ground floor.

The floorplans are straightforward and practical, with emphasis placed on an abundance of natural light that pours in via large perimeter windows. The living spaces incorporate an open kitchen design which brings together the living and dining room to create a spacious living area. Bedrooms and bathrooms are then provided a degree of privacy through the use of small vestibules.
